Metro Vancouver Mayors and Province reach funding agreement for Millennium Line Extension to Arbutus

The Mayors’ Council on Regional Transportation and the Province of British Columbia have agreed on a plan to fund the regional share of TransLink’s Phase Two Investment Plan, including full funding for the Millennium Line Broadway Extension to Arbutus and the Surrey-Newton-Guildford LRT projects. The unprecedented $7-billion investment in regional transit and transportation is an important milestone and moves us one step closer to seeing rapid transit at UBC. This funding will also enable urgently needed bus service improvements across the region, helping to mitigate overcrowding and pass-ups on UBC bus routes until rapid transit can be built.

With funding secured for these near-term investments, the region can now consider its next priorities, including timely completion of a further extension of the Millennium Line to UBC.
